ABOUT

BERTO ANTONIO is a multidisciplinary creator whose ongoing artistic journey has taken him from Oakland's independent hip-hop scene to the soundstages of Hollywood. By the age of six he was listening to Tupac, writing his own rhymes, and rapping for his friends in the schoolyard. Even then, the Bay Area native realized that music is the key to making meaningful connections with others. That transcendent power of art is the inspiration behind his work as a singer, rapper, songwriter, and actor. "The ability to walk into a studio with nothing and come out with a song that has been pulled from the ether is a magical and spiritual experience for me." - Berto Antonio In 2009, the Berkley High School grad relocated to Los Angeles where he attended the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). In the fifteen years since, he has appeared in major television series (Grown-ish), high-profile theater productions, and numerous musical projects. In 2021 he launched the positive hip-hop duo GOOD PEOPLEZ with fellow CalArts alum Jacob Romero (One Piece). In addition to his collaborative work, over the last five years Berto Antonio has released a string of solo singles, as well as the full-length LP Wrthy in 2020. Throughout his creative life, Berto Antonio has had his family by his side and in his heart. While developing his skills he would visit his uncle, an incarcerated former music industry professional. The business veteran offered tips and creative assignments. In return, the young rapper would often find himself performing for family, friends, and even inmates. Although his supportive father tragically passed away, Berto plans to spread his patriarch’s ashes in each of the cities he visits on his first world tour. Recent solo singles like “Pretty Girl” and “Lovely Day” continue to evolve the mix of hip-hop, soul, and positivity that Berto introduced with GOOD PEOPLEZ and his early solo work. With more music on the way, Berto Antonio will continue to explore the power of art to unite. Forever searching for that human connection, he strives to share the universal experiences of happiness, grief, love, heartbreak, and joy that unite us all.
